49 & 32 Again, But Different

Jon Lester cruised past a helpless Baltimore Orioles team that was terrible at the bat & in the field to win his 10th game by a score of 9-3. Orioles batters showed no plate discipline as they swung & missed at many pitches out of the strike zone. Their defense was horrible as well. It's sad to see such a proud & historic franchise sink so low for so long. The Orioles are 25 games out at the halfway mark. Season over.

On the other hand, the Red Sox are 49-32 for the 3rd straight year at the mid-point of the season. Unlike other years, however, this mark of 49-32 is quite, quite different. Usually, the Red Sox come out of the gate in April & May like gang busters, then start to fade around the All-Star break & into the beginning of August. With the multitude of Sox front-line players who should come off the DL after the All-Star break we should be in line for as good, if not better, a 2nd half than the 1st half.

Red Sox Nation has a lot to look forward to. The contributions of the Daniel Nava, Billy Hall, Darnell McDonald & Co. fill-ins is nothing short of magical. Let's keep it up for 4 more weeks until we get the starters back.
