Wake Logs Number 2,777, Strasburg His First 7

Tim Wakefield has thrown more innings than any other Red Sox pitcher in history with his 7+ innings, 3-2 win last night over the Indians. He passes Roger Clemens - a good thing in my book.

On the flip side, Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg made his Major League debut with a 7 inning, 14 strikeout performance against the Pirates. The clips that I saw show Strasburg in command of all 3 pitches. He looks like Daniel Bard on steroids. (Maybe that's a poor choice of words.) Only 2,770 more innings to go to catch Wake.

Back to Wakefield he is due to runoff several goods starts now, starting with last night's, after a few miserable ones. Wake has always been a streaky pitcher & we can use a few more good ones with the NL West coming to Fenway this weekend & next week.

One more win & the Sox take the series in Cleveland. Justin Masterson goes for the Tribe tonight against former teammate Clay Buchholz.
