Walk Spells Loss

Ramon Ramirez walked in the game-winning run in the 12th. It's going to be easy to jump all over Ramirez & say he lost the game.

How about putting some blame on the Red Sox offense for stranding several runners in the extra innings? How about giving Detroit some credit for being a good team? How about Okajima still struggling & giving up key runs? In the end this was a team loss.

Ramirez is a better pitcher when he gets consistent work. With Bard & Oki getting the set-up roles for Pap there just hasn't been enough work for Ramirez lately. He, Delcarmen & Schoenweis get mop-up duty or situational use.

That being said, Ramirez & Co. need to find a way to stay sharp. Once Pap was finished & we blew our chances to score I knew it would not end pretty. We need to take the rubber game today & win 2 out of 3 in Detroit. Both the Yankees & Rays won last night.
