In baseball there is a stat for everything. How many times has a team been swept in a 3-game series, then come back to sweep their next opponent in a 4-game series? I'm sure someone has the answer.
The Sox finished off a home sweep of the LA Angels of Anaheim with an 11-6 win. Victor Martinez had a nice offensive night with 4 RBI on a homer & double. Jeremy Hermida added 3 more RBI.
Dice-K gave up 4 runs in the 1st on a combination of walks & hits, but then settled down to pitch shutout ball over the next 4 innings. If he can get better each outing, the rotation will finally have the 5 quality starters as advertised in Spring Training.
It's nice to have the Sox with momentum coming into the weekend series with the Yankees. Beckett, Buchholz & Lester get the starting assignments this time around.
Unfortunately, the Sox have been unable to gain ground in the AL East race. Boston is 7-3 in their last 10 games, but the Yankees have gone 7-3, the Jays have gone 7-3 & Tampa Bay is 8-2. We need a few teams to get cold.

This weekend will go a long way in helping to determine what the 2010 Red Sox are made of. Although we're still missing Elsbury and Cameron I would be quite content with 2 out of 3. The next 6 games at home hopefully will allow us to close one gap and open another. Go Sox, beat NY!!!
