Sox Bomb in Baltimore

It was suppose to be a weekend where the Sox beat up on the cellar-dwelling O's. Not so. An OT win by the O's on Friday night & a big inning against Dice-K last night sank the Sox chances for winning another road series. Josh Beckett goes today to try & salvage the last game. The Sox are a miserable 11-13 & in 4th place.

Good news. Big Papi did hit 2 homers. It would be a huge boost to the offense to have him contribute.

More times than not, however, it has been the pitching that has let the Sox down. Daniel Bard gives up a tying HR to Tejada on Friday & a seeing-eye ground ball ends the game in the 10th. Dice-K & Wakefield are both ineffective last night & give up 12 runs to a poor offense.

Good pitching, good hitting, good defense -- you can count on one hand how many games have featured all three at once. The better teams are consistent in all 3 phases of the game. Right now, the Red Sox are very inconsistent &, as a result, they are not a very good team.
