Clay Buchholz gave the Sox a great start to as important a series as can be in May. He pitched out of trouble several times, stranding Rays runners at 3rd in multiple innings, to lead the Sox to a big win 6-1 in Tampa Bay.
David Ortiz got the party started with a solo shot in the 2nd. Kevin Youkilis added a 2-run bomb later in the game to give the Sox a comfortable lead. Jeremy Hermida had a base knock with the bases loaded. Throw-in a bases loaded walk to J.D. Drew to add insult to injury.
The Trop has not been kind to the Sox over the years, so I was waiting for a big Rays comeback. But it never materialized. My grandkids were saying this game was in the bag for Boston, but I kept telling them it was early & not to count their chickens. Some of us have longer memories than others.
Are you starting to feel better about the Sox? I am.
