It was an interesting opening series for the Red Sox vs. Yankees to start the season.
- No starting pitcher for either team got a decision. Every game was determined by the bullpen.
- In the final 3-1 loss yesterday the Sox offense squandered numerous scoring opportunities off Pettitte & Park over the first 9, only to lose in extra innings.
- Big Papi got an RBI single of Pettitte to get the early season monkey off his back. Maybe he'll relax now & start hitting on a regular basis.
- John Lackey proved he can handle the Yankees. Mariano Rivera proved he is still the best closer in the world.
As one of my brothers said, he hopes the Red Sox lose the first 9 games to the Yankees & then beat them down the stretch - kind of reversing what the Yankees did to us last year. There's a lot of baseball to go. There's a lot more Yankees-Red Sox to go.
Let's see if the Sox can win road series in Kansas City & Minnesota.
