15 strikeouts out of a possible 27 outs. That's what Lester, Bard & Papelbon did to the Toronto Blue Jays last night in a shutout win to sweep the series.
Since the offensive explosion in Game 1 by both teams the Red Sox starts by Buchholz & Lester have been super. OK, let's say it now, good pitching does equal run prevention. Theo isn't looking so bad over the past 2 games with 2-1 & 2-0 wins.
I think that Jon Lester is all about his cutter. When he's throwing that pitch for a strike, 11 K's will occur like in last night's game. I also thought that Lester making it through the 7th saved extra work for Bard coming in too early. Tito wasn't going to take any chances with Oki or Delcarmen in the 7th.
When is the last time we had a sweep on the road? Let's hope that Baltimore, a/k/a Fenway South, is as accomodating this weekend.
