Red Sox D.O.A. Against Rays

As Jerry Remy said, the Rays are a much better team than the Red Sox right now after sweeping the Sox 4 straight at Fenway. Monday's score was 8-2, all 8 runs coming off John Lackey. Only Jeremy Hermida's 2-run homer got the Sox on the board.

Have you played or coached through a slump? If so, you know what has to happen.

- Players need to get extra work in -- either pitching, hitting or defense. They need to look at tape to see what went wrong. They need to make better decisions & adjustments.

- As coach, you can give a vote of confidence & tell players you are sticking with them. Or you can shake things up & make changes to the lineup. It's a psychiatrist's job with players today.

One coach told me during a slump that you are never as bad as you think. The Sox need to do whatever - even bunt more - to get a win against Texas tomorrow. Focus on one win tomorrow. The rest of the games will take care of themselves.
