What to do with David Ortiz? Terry Francona has been using the big guy sparing as the Sox have faced several lefties lately. He has also pinch-hit Mike Lowell twice & each time Lowell has reached base via walks. Last night the walk scored the winning run.
If you watched the game last night, it was interesting that Tito made the switch for Lowell, even though Ortiz had good career numbers against Scott Downs. Once Lowell was announced the Jays brought in their righty closer to face him, a move that Francona would have anticipated. But a 4-pitch walk brought the winning run home. It worked & I guess that's all that matters.
Personal situations, like Ortiz's & now Wakefield's, are easier to deal with when you are winning.

It took some stones for Tito to do that in the eighth, especially with Ortiz alteady in the batters box. Interesting that the Guy (Buchholz) who has been rumored as trade bait has had 2 good starts in a row.
