No Luck for Lowell

Jon Lester mowed down the Blue Jays for 6 innings. Another workmanlike start for the Red Sox number 2 pitcher in this year's rotation.

As Lester was mowing down Toronto, Mike Lowell fouled a ball off his leg in the first inning & had to be helped off the field. I look at that foul ball as the biggest play of the Spring. It may keep Lowell in a Red Sox uniform when they break camp. Lowell was scheduled to play back-to-back days & that plan is now scrubbed. Time has just about run out to showcase Lowell over the pre-season. I say good.

One sports outlet is asking whether it's worth keeping a $12 million player as a sub? I'd reverse the question. Is it worth paying $9 million for a player to play for another team? I'd keep Mike Lowell anyday. He's a professional. He's a winner.
