It's 2004. It's Yankee Stadium. It's the bottom of the 9th & 2 outs. Alan Embree gets a ground out to 2nd & the Sox complete the biggest comeback in sports history against the New York Yankees. The Sox go on to win their first World Series in 86 years.
That's what I remember about Alan Embree. He's part of Red Sox history. That will never change.
Can Embree help the Sox in 2010? I say doubtful. At 40 years old his arm has been through the ringer with various ailments & injuries. If the Sox need another lefty out of the pen, it's time to look into the farm & give someone a chance there.
Embree brings back a great memory of a great season for all of Red Sox Nation. But I don't think he's the answer in 2010.
