I like ESPN Boston. However, I disagree with their recent article which says that Jacoby Ellsbury needs to make-up for the loss of production from Jason Bay. Bologna!
Ellsbury needs to be Ellsbury. He needs to get on base, create havoc on the bases & help manufacture runs. It wouldn't surprise me if his power numbers were better this year, but he's a singles/doubles guy on an everyday basis. Hitting home runs is not his forte.
Why put the unnecessary stress on Jacoby of comparing him to Jason Bay? Bay & Ellsbury are completely different players. How about we look for better years from Martinez, Youkilis & Ortiz in the middle of the order? How about we look for better production from Drew, Beltre & Cameron? These 6 are your big boppers. Ellsbury, Pedroia & Scutaro are table setters.
I think this article is totally unfair to Ellsbury & way off base.
