Josh Beckett did his thing - 9 up & 9 down. Jose Iglesias had another nice day at the plate. The J & J boys helped the Sox beat the Cardinals in another come-from-behind win today.
Knowing the competitiveness of Beckett, Josh is not looking to give up the #1 ace spot to Lester or Lackey. A healthy Josh Beckett is just what the doctor ordered to get one of the best rotations in baseball off on the right note. He looks on-target so far to be the Sox starter on Opening Day.
Iglesias is a kid making the most of his time in camp. Everyone knows that he can pick the ball. But Jose's bat has come to life with extra-base hits lately. ESPN Boston is saying why wait to bring him up. Maybe we won't need 2 years of Scutaro at short. Like Casey Kelly, however, the Sox will be protective of Iglesias & give him time to adjust.
So far, so good as Spring Training goes.
