Are You Buying What Theo's Selling?

Theo has spoken. The Nation has heard the same 4 words all throughout the winter -- run prevention, defense & pitching. The question remains - are you buying it? Do you think the Red Sox can have just an average offense & still win 95 games?

Personally, I think not, at least not in the AL East. To reach 95 wins will take a number of personal bests or above-average seasons from the likes of Ellsbury, Pedroia, Youk, Victor, Big Papi, J.D. Drew, Mike Cameron, Adrian Beltre & Marco Scutaro. It will take a team effort to score enough runs to win the mandatory 95 games in order to make the playoffs.

Having said that, I don't think it's out of the question that the Sox do attain 95 wins. A change of scenery for Beltre, Cameron & Scutaro may do wonders for their mental outlook. Drew & Ortiz need to bounce back as their contracts come to an end. Petey fell back to earth a little last year, but he & Youk are steady. Ells is still on the upside of his best years. And we get Victor for a whole season.

The Sox can put out a lineup to win everyday. I think everyone would rest easier with an Adrian Gonzalez in the middle of the order.
