Not withstanding the Orioles & Blue Jays, the AL East winner has gone onto the World Series for each of the past 3 years. The Red Sox won it all in 2007. The Rays lost to the Phillies in 2008. And the Yankees are once again World Champs in 2009.
The AL East is a murderous division that is known for offense & pitching. If Baltimore & Toronto were in any other division, they may be playoff bound teams as well. Every year the combined stats of wins by the AL East versus other divisions is favorable. It's a war every time the Sox, Rays, Yankees, Jays & Orioles play each other. (OK, not so much the O's last year.)
The AL East is the Cadillac of baseball. It should be no different in 2010 as 4 other teams figure out how to de-throne the boys in pinstripes.
