If Zack Greinke played for a big market team, his name would be known everywhere around the league. As it is, his numbers are so good that Greinke is a leading candidate for the Cy Young Award.
Will the Cy Young voters do the right thing? Will they vote for a guy with the best numbers or will they go for a big market guy like C.C. Sabathia? Greinke doesn't pitch in the AL East, but he didn't seem to have any trouble with the Red Sox last night. On the other hand Sabathia has the name, the big team, the big media exposure.
In 2007 Josh Beckett lost the Cy Young race to Sabathia on a close vote. Beckett went on to pitch lights out in the playoffs while Sabathia sub-performed for his team.
Let's hope the writers do the right thing & vote Greinke in.
