The Red Sox had a chance to put Texas in the rear view mirror this weekend, but they lost again yesterday 5-1, making their trip to Chicago 3 losses out of 4 games.
Josh Beckett finally gave the Sox a quality start, holding the White Sox to 3 runs over the 1st 7 innings. But Hideki Okajima, who has been in a funk of his own lately, gave up a big 2-run homer in the 8th to ice the game for the White Sox.
The Sox offense left multiple runners in scoring position & just couldn't get the big hit when they needed it. Youk drove in their only run in the first on a single to center scoring Ellsbury.
The Rays lost 2 to the Yankees yesterday, basically ending their run for the Wild Card. Carlos Pena broke 2 fingers when he was hit by C.C. Sabathia & his season is done.
It's the Red Sox vs. the Rangers the rest of the way for the Wild Card.
