Clay Buchholz gave the Sox a 3rd quality start in a row, throwing 7 innings of shutout ball. The game was settled early as the Sox were up 8-0 after the first 4 innings.
The offense played home run derby with 6 balls leaving the yard. 2 by Pedroia marked the first time in his career that he hit 2 in one game. The big blow was a 3-run jack by J.D. Drew which made it 8-0. Youk, Gonzalez & Big Papi also joined the homer parade.
Buchholz has settled into a nice groove as the #3 starter. He seems more relaxed & more confident in his stuff. We can use it as we head into the stretch run & the playoffs.
Now if we can get one more good start in a row from Paul Byrd tonight.
