Red Sox. Yankees. Angels. Tigers or Twins. Get ready, fans, the playoffs are coming.
After this weekend the next possible time that the Red Sox & Yankees meet in 2009 would be in the ALCS. As we said on several podcasts, it always comes down to the Red Sox & Yankees, the best rivalry in all of sports. But, can each of these teams survive the ALDS?
The LA Angels are having a great year. Who knows if the late addition of Scott Kazmir will change their fate against the Red Sox who have owned the Angels in the post-season. The Sox offense is catching fire while the trio of Lester, Beckett, Buchholz looks as tough as any 3 starters around.
Can the Yankees sustain the momentum of a 100 win season? Questions abound about the playoff readiness of Sabathia, Burnett & Joba. Will Detroit with Verlander be too much in a short series? And what if Minnesota sneaks in?
Look at Tampa Bay & Philadelphia last year. Both got hot at the right time. And that's all it is in the playoffs -- whoever is peaking at the right time. We'll have a lot to talk about next week as the regular season winds down.
