Buchholz, Pedroia Key Big Win

Clay Buchholz & Matt Garza put up a lot of zero's in Game 1 today. However, the Sox pulled out a 3-1 win on the strength of a late inning 2-run homer by Dustin Pedroia. Pedroia has 3 home runs in his last 4 games.

There was no question that this game had the feel & atmosphere of a playoff game. Good pitching. Few run-scoring opportunities. Good for the Sox to beat Garza, someone who has had their number in the past. You could say Buchholz outpitched him or Joe Maddon left Garza in too long. Either is OK with me because we got a big win.

Lester & Shields are now tied up in a another tight pitching match-up in Game 2. Sox go for the sweep before their last off-day on Monday.
