Big Start for Beckett

The Boston Red Sox can put the Rays in the rear view mirror with a win tonight. Tampa Bay is 6 behind in the Wild Card race with 31 games left.

Josh Beckett is due for a reversal of fortune. In May, June & July Beckett put together about 20 starts that were Cy Young Award quality. His last 3 -- not so much. Too many 2-out runs & balls leaving the park with unusual frequency.

Josh will be opposed by Matt Garza, a pitcher who has had the Red Sox number in the past. It was Garza that pitched Game 7 of last year's ALCS & pushed Tampa into the World Series.

Especially at the Trop, this would be a great place for a big game by Beckett. The Rays are on life support & Beckett could pull the plug.
