Beckett Back

It was the old Josh Beckett last night, pounding the strike zone with all 3 pitches in a rain shortened 9-1 victory. Rest easy, Red Sox Nation, our #1 guy is back.

An 8-run 3rd inning by the offense put this game away. At that point it was just a question of whether they would get an official game in before more rain came. The game had already been delayed 2 hours because of rain before the start.

Red Sox fans have a full day of baseball today with a day/night doubleheader. Buchholz goes in Game 1 & Lester will try it again in Game 2. We need to keep the pressure on Texas & open up a bigger cushion.

Finally, just a quick word about some offense. Victor drove in the 1st run with a single to right - big hit. Gonzalez cleared the bases with a 3-run double on a ball the Rays' Perez gave up on - strange play, but we'll take it. Youk added 2 hits, one being his 25th home run. Nice job offense!
