Victor Equals Victory

Last night's come-from-behind win with 2 outs in the 9th has to be THE biggest win of the 2009 season for the Boston Red Sox. The Sox scored 6 times in the 9th to pull out a huge 8-4 win over the Wild Card contending Texas Rangers in Arlington.

There were several excellent at-bats in the 9th, but Victor Martinez struck the game-winning double with 2 outs & 2 strikes. As Frank Viola said in the NESN booth, this is why the Red Sox gave up Justin Masterson for Victor. No doubt this was the biggest hit in Victor's short time with the Red Sox. He has become a solid presence in the #3 spot.

A loss against the Texas ace Millwood would have put the Sox 1/2 game behind the Rangers in the Wild Card. Instead, they left the field 1-1/2 games ahead. Big swing. It also takes the pressure off the last 2 games of the series.

Keep it up, Sox. As Pedroia & Youk like to say , we keep grinding every at-bat & every out. Remember Yogi's great line -- it ain't over till it's over. It sure wasn't last night.

was I watching grady little last night? Do you really want to put your one of your starting pitchers running the bases. How often do these guys run the bases? Dumb move!
