An Ugly Win, But Still A Win

Red Sox 10, Blue Jays 9. This game had everything -- the good, the bad & the outright ugly.

- Good hitting by both teams as 19 runs were scored. Ortiz & Bay went yard for the Sox. Big Papi had 3 RBI off a left-hander.

- Bad fielding by Toronto with an error in the outfield & a huge error by their pitcher.

- Ugly pitching by Beckett & Papelbon. This was Beckett's worst start in 3 months, giving up 3 home runs & erasing leads of 6-2 & 7-3. Papelbon gave up 3 walks plus 2 hits before getting 4 outs.

However, at the end of the day, we outlasted Toronto. Huge win when you think about facing Halladay tomorrow night. Right now we'll take wins -- pretty ones & ugly ones.

Not to sound too much like a pessimist, but I am still concerned by yet ANOTHER shakey outing by our closer. You can live on the edge only so long before you fall off.
