Two More Late Wins

On Tuesday it was Victor Martinez & Jason Bay. Last night it was the Big Papi show of old. Two bigs wins 6-3 & 3-2 over the White Sox. The Sox picked-up a game on the Yankees & added a game to their Wild Card lead over the Rangers.

Give Francona credit, yes I said credit, for a great late-inning move on Tuesday. He pinch-runs Nick Green for Varitek & pinch-hits Victor for Alex Gonzalez. That produced a game tying run before a Jason Bay homer put the Sox ahead to stay.

I was one of the doubters last night as to why Big Papi was playing instead of Lowell. But Ortiz delivered 2 homers, the last his 1st walk-off in 2 years. Also, you can't say enough about the effort of Tim Wakefield. 7 innings, 1 run. How about Victor catching Wake flawlessly?

There may be some moaning & groaning about playing time, but so far so good since the final results have been wins. We need wins to make the playoffs.
