Another double-digit run producing night for the revitalized Sox offense. This time an even dozen runs led to an opening game 12-8 win over the visiting Chicago White Sox.
Neither starter was effective last night. Jose Contreras made a huge error on a simple ground ball by David Ortiz that opened the flood gates in the 3rd, culminating with a 3-run blast by Mike Lowell. Clay Buchholz was ineffective as well with poor command. He was unable to get out of the 5th inning after giving up his own 3-run blast to Paul Konerko.
The continuous offensive production by Mike Lowell keeps the contraversy going as to whether he should be included in the player rotation with David Ortiz & Jason Varitek. For my money I say keep Lowell on the field & rotate Big Papi & Varitek.

I don't mean to sound the alarm, but some of these guys aren't happy and they are saying it to the press. I have heard Papi and Lowell complain about sitting. Papelbon was complaining about the aquisition of Wagner. I am concerned about the cohesiveness of the clubhouse. Chemistry seems to be a problem. There appears to be a different feel to the players attitudes and their relationship to Francona. Francona is angry about media reporting; Youkilis doesn't like being criticized for his intensity. I am not feeling good vibes. SB
