The Sox & Brad Penny lost to the running Rangers who stole 8 bases last night. If Penny allows a lot of runners, like he did yesterday in a very average performance, his delivery is too slow to give Varitek a chance to throw anyone out.
After a big come-from-behind win the night before, this was a very uneventful loss. The Rangers win brings them back to 1/2 game behind the Sox in the Wild Card. Another win today will give them the lead.
Besides home runs by Bay & Martinez, the only eventful note was a beaning of Ian Kinsler by Frank Cabrera. Talk about Youk crowding the plate, Kinsler is on top of it. We'll see if the Kinsler hit turns into anything more today.
A win today by the Sox to leave Texas with the Wild Card lead is not a must, but it would be nice.
