Since the news of David Ortiz & PED's broke on Thursday Big Papi has homered twice & the Red Sox have won both games. Maybe we should keep the story alive for the next 2 months. Ortiz has said that he will not run & hide from reporters, but there was no new news from #34 yesterday. He needs to address the situation soon & move on. You can expect to hear some good razzing from the Bronx fans next week. By the way the Sox have moved to 1 1/2 games behind the Yankees in a month where they barely played .500 ball, 13-12 for July.
The other story is the continued lackluster performance of John Smoltz. Another game where he gives up 5 runs, more if not for Ellsbury's catch. As much as Tito says we need to be patient with Smoltz, when Tim Wakefield comes off the DL I think Buchholz keeps the #5 spot in the rotation. Nice try with Smoltz, but the experiment is not working & shows no signs of improvement.
