Buchholz Finally Wins

The 3rd time was the charm for Clay Buchholz. His 3rd quality start in a row produced a big victory for the Sox over Roy Halladay & the Blue Jays 6-1.

Buchholz pitched out of trouble in the 4th & 6th innings before the bullpen finished up the game with 3 scoreless innings of relief. Nice pitching effort by the staff after the Blue Jays scored 9 runs the night before.

The offense keep the long ball alive with Ortiz, Bay & Victor all going yard. The biggest hit of the game may have been Alex Gonzalez' seeing-eye ground ball up the middle to score Kotchman with the 2nd run. As it turns out, that was the winning run.

With the Texas Rangers blowing another lead last night & losing to the Minnesota Twins the Sox are now 1 game ahead in the Wild Card. Jon Lester goes for the sweep today.

We need this last game in Toronto before the Yankees come to town for the weekend. Penny & Tazawa are scheduled to pitch the first 2 games, so the weekend looks "iffy" with the pitching match-ups. But the match-up wasn't in our favor last night & look what happened.
