The Boston Red Sox just couldn't get any offense going against Justin Verlander & lost the final game 2-0 after taking the first three. Lost in translation was another solid outing by Clay Buccholz.
Buchholz has had 2 quality starts in a row against the Yankees & the Tigers. He has nothing to show for it, other than 2 losses on his record. Given the trade deadline chatter about him going to another team, maybe now Buchholz is relaxing & letting his talent seep out. It couldn't come at a better time in the season.
Last night's loss puts the Sox 1/2 game ahead of Texas in the Wild Card race. Lester & Millwood go tonight. This is a huge 3-game series in Arlington. A sweep by either team could put some distance between them in the Wild Card race. A 2-1 split keeps things close.
Sox fans, get your nap in before the game as the time change makes it an 8 PM start. It could be a long night.
