Beckett, Lowell, Bay Too Much

Josh Beckett pitched 7 innings, probably could have gone 8 if the score was a bit closer.

Jason Bay got 4 hits, including another HR, & was on base every time at the plate.

Mikey Lowell contributed 3 hits, one being his 3rd home run in 2 nights.

All spelled the 3rd win in a row over Detroit 8-2. The Sox get a bigger challenge this afternoon when the offense faces Verlander in the series finale.

The Red Sox enter today's game with a 1-1/2 game lead in the Wild Card over Texas. They travel to the Lone Star State after today's game for a 3-game set over the weekend.

Small note. Ramon Ramirez pitched the 9th & looked like the old Ramirez of April & May. He struckout 2 & allowed no hits. Ramon looks like he is headed in the right direction again. Good news for the Sox relief corps.
