Wake, Sox Lose in Extras

Life of a manager is never easy. Every move is questioned. If a move works, you're a genius. If not, you're a bum.

Here's one of each from last night's game.

Genius -- Tito let's George Kottaras hit with 2 outs in the 11th, down by 2 runs. I'm screaming for Varitek to pinch hit. Kottaras calmly plunks a 98 mile an hour fastball into the right field seats for his first home run of the season.

Bum -- Tito lets Tim Wakefield go back out for the 8th in a 4-3 game. Wake gives up a home run to go down 5-3. I thought he should have gone to the bullpen. The decision may have had something to do with leaving Wake out there to possibly earn his 11th win & an All-Star spot. A clean 8th inning would have made Nick Green's 2-run double in the 9th the game winner.

I hated Monday morning quarterbacks when I was coaching. Overall, I think Tito makes more good moves than bad.
