Adam LaRoche told a reporter that he couldn't tell what day it was on the field, whether it was Saturday or Monday. That's because the Red Sox, unlike Pittsburgh, play before a full house every night. His reference was made to smaller weekday crowds in Pittsburgh. Not so in Boston.
Like his former Pirate teammate Jason Bay, LaRoche likes Boston just fine. He is hitting over .400 in his first week & has already touched up the Green Monster for a homer & double. Adam is very fluid & effortless at 1B as well. He enjoys the playoff intensity of every game.
LaRoche's performance is making life difficult for Tito as he tries to rotate LaRoche with Youk & Lowell. I'd even let LaRoche DH once a week & give Ortiz a day off. It's a positive problem to have more good players than not enough. As with most situations, Tito's philosophy is that things have a way of working themselves out.
