Just a quick thought on the trading of Mark Kotsay.
Kotsay was definitely a shot in the arm last year when he arrived on the Boston scene. His versatility at first & outfield play helped much during the stretch run & into the playoffs. Youk had moved to third due to Lowell's injury, so Kotsay played a lot of first base.
This year Mark never seemed to be right after coming back from back surgery where he missed the first few months of the season. His offense was down & the addition of a younger, natural 1B in LaRoche with more power set the stage for him to go.
Everyone says he was a great clubhouse guy & a pro in all ways. I'm sure he will do well in Chicago.
