David Ortiz & Steroids?

Big Papi is the latest name to be leaked as a player who tested positive in 2003 for performance enhancing drugs. Right away you have to question the story's validity -- a New York reporter servicing up smack on the Boston Red Sox. Maybe he was tired of all the Yankee names surfacing -- Clemens, Pettitte, A-Rod, Giambi.

Whatever the case, yes or no, it's a moot point. Look at how everyone has already forgotten Manny's 50 game suspension. If he did it, at least Ortiz will admit it -- a la Andy Pettitte. On the other hand Manny has never owned up to his own shortcomings. He never will. Most players never do. When it comes to pro athletes personal responsibility is dead.

I hope Ortiz conducts himself more like Pettitte than Manny.
