Clay Buchholz gets his chance to show that he belongs back in the big leagues. He gets the start for the Red Sox in Toronto on Friday.
There is no lack of buzz on talk shows about why Buchholz is getting this start.
- To showcase him as a key piece in a deal for Roy Halladay.
- To reward him for a good season at Triple A thus far.
- To drive up the price for Halladay from the Yankees & other suitors.
- To set-up the Sox pitching rotation after the All-Star break.
I go for the last one. The Sox didn't get crazy when Johan Santana was available. I don't see them being a serious bidder for Halladay this year. Let's win or lose with what we have.
