Josh Beckett was once again dominant in a 10-K performance over 7 innings as the Sox beat the A's 8-3. The Sox offense also belted out 14 hits with every player garnering at least 1 hit. It was a nice win.
Take that same performance a week ago & Beckett could have lost 3-1 or 3-2 as the offense was scuffling mightily to score runs. Was last week an abberation or is this week? That's what Theo & Co. have to figure out before the trade deadline. Do you trade for a bat or another pitcher?
I recommend another power bat. The most talked-about hitters are Adrian Gonzalez of the Padres & Victor Martinez of the Indians. Pitchers Roy Halladay & Cliff Lee are still out there too. Maybe we get one of both. Only 4 days left & we'll know for sure.
