C'mon, Felger. It's OK to be the anti-Boston sportswriter who's not a "homer" as you say. But where's your common sense? I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, so here's mine. Felger - stick to reporting on football where you know something.
Michael Felger of Comcast Sports Net was trying to convince Rob Bradford of WEEI that Joba Chamberlain was justified in hitting Jason Bay between the numbers after Bay had hit a 3-run bomb off him earlier in the game. Bradford politely disagreed as do I.
Joba's history with Youkilis is enough to set off fireworks without further cause. Now his actions will end up either starting a brawl in the future, a la Coco-Shields, or will get a fellow teammate like A-Rod a fastball between the numbers as payback. Like the movie Major League, maybe Joba should join Charlie Sheen in the penal league.

I understand "brushing back" a hitter or "protecting the plate", but I've about had enough of the 5 year old temper tantrums of some pitchers.
For several years we were on the pitching end when Pedro would bean Jeter in the first inning of what seemed like every game. Now we're on the receiving end, or should I say Youk and Bay are.
Either way when the same pitcher perennially hits batters from the same team, baseball needs to step in. Potentially knocking stars onto the DL isn't good for the fans or revenue.
If baseball wants to continue to turn a blind eye towards hit batters the I hope they turn the same blind eye when the batters knock the pitchers head off with a right hook. Clearly the Red Sox players don't want to risk suspension by storming the mound but MLB is leaving them less choice as it appears that only the pitchers will be protected.
Was this post foreshadowing of things that came??? White Sox closer Bobby Jenks admitted to throwing behind the Rangers Ian Kinsler on purpose Saturday in order to protect his teammates after seeing two of them get hit in the game.
