Bard Has Impressive Debut

The magic of the Red Sox MASH unit stopped last night as they fell 8-4 to the LA Angels of Anaheim. (Isn't that too long & weird a name for a baseball team?)

Sure, we got the "usual" 2-run homer by Jason Bay & went out to a fast 4-0 lead, but Tim Wakefield was due for a bad game. With the overall poor starting pitching & key injuries it's amazing that the Sox have amassed such a good record. They can still take this road series with a win this afternoon.

The buzz of last night's game was the debut of Daniel Bard who threw 2 scoreless innings in relief. He regularly hit 95-96-97 on the gun. You could tell he was nervous as he overthrew several of his breaking pitches. But all in all, he looks like another strong arm for the bullpen whenever the Sox need him. Bard is just another in a long line of young draft picks by the Red Sox front office. Nice job Theo & Co.
