How Do You Spell Relief This Year?

The Red Sox bullpen has been a question mark in the past. However, it looks like there are a number of quality arms to choose from in 2009. One of my readers mentioned that Tito may have trouble finding enough innings for everyone.

Working backwards, you have Papelbon to close. The bridge to Papelbon can be filled by Saito, Masterson & Okajima. And you still have Delcarmen & Ramirez to eat up innings. Look for a young arm like Daniel Bard to fill-in if someone needs rest.

The bullpen should be a strength this year. It's the best the Sox have had for a long time.

On paper.....lineups can look great. It's what happens in the season that counts. It's very hard to count on anyone producing the same numbers every year.....except for maybe....Mariano!!! C'mon....the guy is amazing and he keeps doing it year after year. jb
