All the Teixeira talk in the off-season did not set well with Mike Lowell. After all, he was one year removed from a World Series MVP & signed a 3-year deal for less money to stay with the Sox.
Many of my family & friends think that Lowell is the question mark this year. Can he stay healthy? Is age catching up with him? Can he perform at the same level of 2007?
I vote yes he can. He is a professional, a great teammate, a leader by example. I see Mike Lowell approaching this year with a chip on his shoulder. I think he will show the Red Sox brass that the deal they didn't make for Teixeira was a good one.

Personally I think that age may be catching up with Mike Lowell, but I love him as a player and wish him a great 2009. The person who should have been most upset about the Teixeira deal was Youk. Comparing them:
_________Teixeira______Youkilis
Age______29___________30
Avg.____.308_________.312
Hits_____177__________168
HRs_____33___________29
$$$_____180/8yrs_____41.5/4yrs
Youkilis had to about beg for a new contract while the Sox were almost as bad as the Yankees about throwing money at a guy that may be only marginally better, and a case can be made that the 2 position and gold glove winning Youkilis is actually a better player. In my mind he definately is better considering he is half the money of Teixeira.
