A-Rod Apologizes

A few commentors want to go back to A-Rod after his public apology today. OK by me...

Let's cut to the chase with A-Roid, Andy Petitte, Clemens, Bonds, McGwyer, et. al. Wouldn't it be nice if just one athlete said:

- I knowingly took steroids & I knew it was wrong.

- I took steroids so I would have an unfair advantage over my fellow athletes.

- I took steroids so I could produce better stats & make more money.

- Still today, I will take or do anything to prolong my career & make more money. There is no test for HGH, so I'll keep taking that drug for now.

- I'm only sorry because I got caught.

That's the real truth that no one will ever say.

Unfortunately it's time to finally move on from the past steroid abuses in baseball. Leave the records alone, stop the press conferences and although I can't believe I'm going to quote Mark McGuire, "let's not talk about the past but look to the future".

First of all I don't doubt for a second that if a Red Sox clubby talked to Sen. Mitchell there would be prominent Red Sox players outed for PED use. I fully believe that every club in the majors had the steroid click.

Second of all, this problem is actually a union problem. Could "Uncle Bud" have fought harder for a testing policy in 1998, maybe, but then again could he afford another work stoppage? Also why weren't the supposed 90% of players that were clean clamoring louder for testing back then.

Lastly how can you adjust records for some when EVERYONE is under suspicion and some will never be found out.

In conclusion, to all of you that "will never watch another game but still read baseball blogs"; I'll see you at the ballpark!
