The Comeback Kid of 2009

It's Spring Training & time for a little "crystal ball" thinking.

David Ortiz.

Mike Lowell.

Josh Beckett.

Julio Lugo.

Jason Varitek.

Which of these players will have a bounce back year in 2009 from a down season in 2008? I'm betting on the first three -- Ortiz, Lowell & Beckett.

If I had to pick just one, I'd go with Josh Beckett. I see him returning to form & being the dominent ace that he was in 2007.

Who's your pick?

I agree with you on the first 3, and Becket is most likely because of his age. Ortiz would be next. He looks pretty fit coming into camp. Lowell would be 3rd. I love the guy, but years might be just starting to catch up with him.

It has to be Lugo. There is a decent chance that he will be the backup shortstop going into opening day and he has stated that if that is the case he wants a trade. The Sox have been trying to trade him but his lack of production has hurt him. Therefore he will have to make the MOST out of his chances to raise his stock so that he can be on another team by the trade deadline.
