No Pitching Equals No Wins

I feel like I'm writing a eulogy for a dead team. Down 3-1 now to the Rays the Red Sox will need to pull another rabbit out of their playoff hat. Giving up 9 or more runs per game in each of the past 3 consecutive losses to Tampa Bay is a recipe for disaster.

However, no team is ever as bad or as good as they appear. Law of averages suggests that the Red Sox pitchers cannot continue to give up 9 runs per game. It also suggests that the Red Sox hitters will start to have their balls find holes.

Maybe the day off is coming at the right time. It may cool of the Rays. If the Sox can get some momentum going in Game 5 & eke out a win, you never know what can happen. Dice-K will need another big performance as in Game 1.

I'm ready for a day off. It's been tough to watch lately.

Just as we were the team of destiny in the past, it looks like it is Tampa's turn. They look formidable, and the Sox don't. The Sox have come back from deficits like this in the past, so I guess it can be done. I wish I could be more optimistic.
