Hot Stove Begins Soon

It won't take long for the end of 2008 to fade & thoughts will turn to 2009. There will be several interesting topics for discussion over the next four months.

- Will Jason Varitek reach an agreement on a new contract?

- Will the MASH unit of Ortiz, Lowell & Drew all require off-season surgery?

- Will Julio Lugo be on the roster come Spring Training?

- Is Curt Schilling all done?

- Will Mark Kotsay be offered a contract?

- Does Paul Byrd fit into the future plans?

- Will Wakefield & Timlin call it a career?

- Will Manny sign with the Yankees?

These & many more questions will be bantered about during October, November, December & January before the boys report to Fort Myers in February. It will be a fun hot stove season.

I look forward to your comments.

I think Manny will be a Met. This will enable him to stay in the Nat'l League, enjoy that fat pitching, and still command $$$. I think Timlin will retire, but Wake will try 1 more. Lugo needs to go. Tek has Boras for an agent, so who knows. After the year he had at the plate he is a huge question.
