Halloween is coming up soon, but let's hope that this game doesn't come back to haunt the Red Sox. After a colossal blunder by Howie Kendrick with the bases loaded that plated 3 runs the Angels fought back for a 5-4 win in extra innings.
Concerns for the Red Sox:
1) Never let a team who won 100 games get life back in a short series.
2) Josh Beckett showed signs of rust & was average at best.
3) Mike Lowell continues to be a liability in the field & at the bat.
4) David Ortiz has gone cold at the plate again.
Beckett & Lowell, the 2 ex-Florida Marlins who were such a key for the playoff run last year, are struggling this year. Ortiz looks uncomfortable at the plate. In addition to these 3, Pedroia has hit the ball hard, but has nothing to show for it. And J.D. Drew is always questionable.
Francona will have several decisions to make when filling out his lineup card today. The fans at Fenway make a difference, as Kendrick can tell you, so I look for the fans to help the Sox close out the series today. We need to end it.
