Angels Lose Series

Don't get me wrong. I think the Red Sox achieved a great series win over a tough Angels team with Varitek, Bay & Lowrie coming through in the 9th inning for a 3-2 win.

Didn't you think, though, that the Angels really lost it? Shoddy play in the field game after game led to unearned Red Sox runs. Never getting the big hit, except for Napoli in Game 3, when they needed it. Lots of whining over umpire calls. I especially thought that Torii Hunter was way over the top with his emotions, something you rarely saw from him in Minnesota.

In the end it was Varitek's tagout on Willits that turned things around in the 9th. Next thing you know it's a bloop double by Bay & a seeing-eye groundball by Lowrie. Game over. Series over. Onto Tampa Bay.

Congrats to the players, coaches & management on going further than all the experts predicted. In an injury-riddled year I think that making the final 4 is an amazing accomplishment.
