With the addition of Mark Kotsay & the anticipated return of J.D. Drew is Coco Crisp the odd man out?
I like Coco for his defense & his speed. The question becomes: Can Tito find enough playing time that utilizes these attributes?
Ellsbury is catching everything in sight in the outfield. Kotsay has a much more productive bat. Since both Ellsbury & Kotsay are left-handed hitters Coco can spell one of them when a left-hander is throwing against the Sox.
I still think Coco knows CF at Fenway better than Jacoby. He has played more games there & definitely knows the triangle. The difference between he & Ellsbury, though, has shrunk as Ells plays more games in CF.
Coco has the ability to go out there on a daily basis & hustle all over the field -- run down a fly ball, steal a base, bunt. Problem is that his offense has been minimal this season which will limit his future playing time.
I hope the Sox keep Coco for the remainder of the season. There just may be a Dave Roberts situation that could turn a game around.
