This weekend went better than I expected. 2 out of 3 wins in Toronto against a tough pitching staff is a great effort on the road.
Dice-K remained masterful in yesterday's 3-0 win with several shutout innings. Perhaps the best news of the day was the re-emergence of Jacoby Ellsbury's bat with 3 extra base hits yesterday. When Ellsbury gets on base the Sox are a much better offensive team.
It would be a nice touch to see Josh Beckett pitch & win the playoff clincher at Fenway tonight against Cleveland. While the Rays have dominated the headlines most of the year it has been an unusual path, to say the least, for the Red Sox to put together another 90+ win season. More on that after they clinch.
